A polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) is an organic chlorine compound with the formula C₁₂H_10−xCl_x. Polychlorinated biphenyls were once widely deployed as dielectric and coolant fluids in electrical apparatus, carbonless copy paper and in heat transfer fluids.
